  • Paint by Numbers Event, Buffet, Bar in Ballroom 7 pm – 10 pm

One of the fun group optional activities we have planned is an evening of painting, drinking and eating. We will have a buffet dinner with a no-host cash bar on Thursday evening. You will get a custom designed ‘paint-by-numbers’ canvas and corresponding paint pack to create your very own PBGV masterpiece. You provide a digital photo of your PBGV, choose the background color and we will order customized ‘paint-by-numbers’ kits for us to paint together. Paintings will be hung to dry in the ballroom for all to see during the events on Friday and Saturday. There will be a cost for the buffet dinner and a separate cost for the painting supplies which will be ordered through Apple Pie Painting Custom Pet Portraits. Detailed pricing and ordering instructions will be available closer to the event.

Friday, 3/31

  • Dr. Sarah Hamar, Chagas and other Zoonoses ~ 1 pm – 2 pm

We are honored to welcome Dr. Sarah Hamar to the YO Ranch to speak with us on Friday March 31, 2023. Dr. Hamar is a DVM and Associate Professor at the Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. As a veterinary ecologist specializing in wildlife and zoonotic diseases, Dr. Hamar’s research has included studies of pathogens that affect both humans and animals such as, research studies related to Chagas Disease (transmitted through “kissing bugs”), avian migration as a method for disease spread, and the intersection of animals and humans from an epidemiology and ecological perspective. Recently Dr. Hamar led the “COVID-19 and Pets” research team at Texas A&M studying the rates of transmission of COVID by infected owners to their house pets.

  • Seminar: Breeders Round Robin “Making & Raising Puppies: 2 pm – 3 pm

A number of breeders will be giving brief 5 minute discussions on a variety of topics about breeding and raising puppies. Our hope is that this will be interesting and informative for breeders and owners alike. Breeders will have the opportunity to hear how others tackle the same challenges we all encounter. Owners will get insight into how to capitalize on good foundations instilled in their purposefully bred pup and raise well adjusted, happy & healthy young ambassadors for the breed. Topics include things such as: Mate Selection, Preparation for Whelping, Socialization, Litter Evaluations, Exposure to New Experiences, Mentorship, Selecting Future Owners plus time for Q&A.
