Information for Breeders

PBGVCA Breeders’ Tool Chest – To preserve the well‐being and unique character of the Breed.

There is no substitute for the extensive experience available from your breeder community. Our Goal is to preserve the well‐being and unique character of the Breed and ensure that the PBGV will continue to be a viable breed in the United States for many years to come. Following are breeder resources from the AKC, OFA, and the PBGVCA Club.

Breeding is a serious responsibility that should not be undertaken without a great deal of planning and forethought. Why? Because responsible PBGV breeders work very hard to avoid genetic defects in order to produce healthy, sound puppies. Whether you “just want to have one litter” or you want to start a long-time commitment to breeding PBGV’s, please contact someone in the PBGV Club to find an existing breeder or contact a PBGV breeder mentor and get matched up with an experienced breeder who will help you through the process. We provide extensive information about our breed throughout this website. Following are some important resources:

Basic information such as links to our breed standard, pedigree-health database, Breeder’s Code of Best Practices, puppy and stud dog service directories, etc.
