PBGVCA National Specialty Club Trophies

For wins at the annual PBGVCA National Specialty; members in good standing only; with three wins (not necessarily with the same dog) trophies may be retired or replaced per club rules. Trophies are presented at the Annual Awards Banquet following the Specialty show. Once a trophy title is retired/reoffered “legs” on the award begin anew. Please Note: Only PBGVCA members in good standing at the time of the Specialty are eligible to be awarded Club Trophies.

BEST OF BREED: The first Best of Breed Club Trophy was offered in 1990 by Anne Snelling. Helen Ingher retired the large, silver Westminster bowl in 1997 and replaced the award with a bronze PBGV. Nick Frost retired the Helen & Charlie Ingher BOB Trophy in 2001 and replaced the award with a large pewter plate on a walnut base. Gavin Robertson retired the Nick Frost, Dehra Kennels BOB Trophy in 2009 and re-donated the award as the Gavin and Sarah Robertson, Soletrader PBGV Trophy in 2010. Donna K. Moore retired the Gavin and Sarah Robertson BOB Trophy in 2013 as the Don & Donna Moore, M & M’s PBGV Trophy, replaced the award with a 10″ Silver Plate on a wooden base beginning in 2014. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX: Was first offered by the PBGV Club of Greater New York in 2008 and is a scallop-edged engraved silver plate on a large walnut base. The BOS Club Trophy was retired and replaced by Don & Donna Moore, M&M PBGV’s in 2016. Beginning in 2017 the trophy will be a scallop-edged engraved silver plate on a large walnut base. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

BEST OF WINNERS: The BOW Club Trophy is offered by Debbie Perrot and Shirley Knipe, Hootwire PBGV in memory of Champion Lacebark’s Lydia. The trophy was first offered in 2010 and is a large Dannyquest bronze standing PBGV on a walnut base. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

BEST PUPPY: The “Alexander” Memorial Trophy was first offered by George & Betty Barth of Gebeba Kennel plus fans of “Alexander” the PBGV puppy who won the NJ Supermatch and ignited the interest in the breed in 1983. The original award was a glass trophy etched with a likeness of Alexander. Jan Zigich and Ross Litman of Mirepoix PBGV retired that trophy in 2009 and replaced the award with an original stone art piece on a wooden base etched with the same Alexander likeness. Jan Zigich and Ross Litman of Mirepoix PBGV retired their trophy in 2015 and chose to replace the award, as the “Mirepoix Memorial Trophy Honoring “Reine” foundation bitch behind all Mirepoix winning pups. The present trophy consists of a natural burlwood base and a resin PBGV puppy standing on top looking into the burl hole sniffing – hunting. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

BEST VETERAN: The Best Veteran Club Trophy offered by Barbara & Gary Oxholm, Polygor, Reg. in memory of French/American Champion Fanfan De La Font Francaise. The trophy was first offered in 2006 and is a Dannyquest bronze reclining PBGV on a walnut base. In 2016 Karen Clugston, Jaren PBGVs retired and replaced the trophy. The 2017 trophy is the Jaren PBGVs Memorial Trophy, in Honor of Hazel, CH. Jodells Which Hazel of Jaren. The trophy is 8×11 oval black granite with an artist rendition of “Hazel”, on a wood stand. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

BEST BRED-BY EXHIBITOR: The Bred-By Club Trophy is offered by Charlie & Helen Ingher, Charlen, Reg. It was first offered in 2006 and is a bronze PBGV with puppies on a walnut base. In 2015 Patricia Koprovic of Westwind PBGV retired the trophy and chose to re-offer the trophy. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

WINNERS DOG: The Winners Dog Club Trophy is offered by Corey Benedict and Brent Humphrey, Sidekick Kennels in memory of Ch. Polygor’s Sidekick Can Can. The trophy was first offered in 2011 and is a large bronze running PBGV with its nose to the ground mounted on top of a wooden base. In 2020 Teri King of Amivelu Kennels retired and replaced the trophy. The 2021 Trophy is dedicated to Teri’s first PBGV willing to try everything, CH Centerstage Strut Those Kinky Boots CA CD RA RATCH Master CGCA CGCU TKN BCAT. It is stained glass of a PBGV standing in the field facing a slightly hidden bunny. The wooden base has two levels with the glass sitting on top.The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

WINNERS BITCH: The Winners Bitch Club Trophy is offered by Sandy Bustin, Crepu Visage PBGV in honor of Tom Bustin’s “Cady”. The trophy was first offered in 2011 and is a large silver loving cup with a PBGV medallion set on a wooden base. The Winners Bitch Trophy was retired in 2014 by Jan Zigich & Ross Litman of Mirepoix PBGV. The trophy was re-offered in 2014. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.

AGILITY HIGH IN TRIAL: The Agility High in Trial Club Trophy is offered by Kathy Marshall and the Hound Pack. The trophy is an engraved silver bowl on a wooden base. It was first offered in 2011. Megan & David Esherick retired that trophy in 2014 and replaced the award as: The CH. MACH ClancyBihar Eye of the Tiger, CDX RAE MXG MJG NF HC Memorial Trophy, which is a Dannyquest design of a small pair of running PBGVs on a cast base mounted on top of a wooden base. The Agility High In Trial Club Trophy was retired in 2021 by Megan & David Esherick. The 2022 Trophy is a silver bowl on a wooden base offered in memory of MACH 6 PACH Clancy’s Capsaicin Rush VCD2 RAE MXC3 PAD MJG3 MXP3 MXPB MJP4 MJPB PAX OF T2B RHX CGCA TKP. The current memento is a 4” Custom Die Cast Medal Antique Gold/Brass.
