Spring 2016  Saber Tails 45

Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America

National Specialty Recording – DVD--The cost of the

DVD recording is usually not covered by the DVD sales.

The DVD recording is historically valuable and unless it is

promoted well it will continue to lose money. We will ask

that the DVD notices be put on Facebook and the web-

site. Better communication will help.

Nominating -- NTR

Health Database – Jo reported that Veronica is asking for

$3000 to help make the database more useable.  Money

will be spent for the programmers to work on the Data-

base format, such as, updates to search options, etc.  It

was agreed that this is money well spent and at some

point the cost will be $0. The database is a very valuable

resource for breeders and puppy buyers.

Photo Contest – Sandy reported the contest is over and

the Calendar is being advertised and sales are ongo-

ing.  Susannah is getting quotes on printing. They will be

spiral bound. Other costs would be mailing, envelopes

and labels.

Policies and Procedures – No cost at this time.

Public Education/Meet the Breed—Bob – Sue requests an

estimated $50 mail material kits, $60 parking MTB (Febru-

ary) $500 for 3 rooms at Eukanuba. Estimated at this time

$610.

Saber Tails – Bob reported that it is hard for Jane to set

a budget since each issue changes in size and content

and is dependent on Advertising revenue. No additional

requests at this time.

Social Media – Stephanie reported that Gina does not

need any budget requests.  She is interested in BOD feed-

back

Top Twenty – Sandy – Sue submitted a budget request of

$3500 of which $268 has been spent this year on glasses.

So her next year’s budget request would be $3225. The

cost of the Welcome Party is yet to be determined since

the information is not yet available from the Hotel site.

Trophy – We have received the description of the new

trophy. Same budget request.

PBGVCA 2015 Mid-Year Meeting

In Attendance: Sandy Bustin, Tiffany Cannon, Bob Cohen,

Susannah Cooper, Anne Gallant, Lindley Henson, Stepha-

nie Holoubek, Lora Megli, Gloria Swaine, Jo Quintenz,

Vickie Willmann.

Absent: Mike Williquette

Topic for 2nd Saturday Session is Health - include: 1)

POAG as a CHIC requirement; 2) CBP designation for

POAG; 3) approach to requests from other kennel clubs

for participation in studies, etc.; 4) any other desired addi-

tions to CHIC requirements; 5) Open discussion.

Session was called to order at 12:35 p.m. CDT.

Jo discussed that the Health Committee would like the

Board to add the POAG to CHIC# requirements.  Now

we do hips (and eyes) and it is rare for active PBGVs to

have signs of severe hip dysplasia. Approximately 10%

of PBGVs have a diagnosis of severe dysplasia but never

show any signs of dysplasia.  Currently only a couple

PBGVs have active signs of hip dysplasia. Jo suggested

we remove hips and add POAG due to expense of testing.

Several Board members reported their Vets had reported

to them it was an unnecessary, very expensive test for the

PBGV.

At this point my phone died and lost the call.

Got back on the call when Sandy was quoting the Health

Survey on Hip dysplasia.

The Board believes the Hip Dysplasia test has served its’

purpose and should be take off the Club Health recom-

mendations and that the POAG test be added. This should
