on her right eye.  Shallow depth of field makes the nose a bit

unsharp and Susie in background is definitely out of focus.

PBGVs Take Over San Miguel de Allende Mexico

or

How Easy it is to Vacation With Your Pets!

By Doug M. Canfield

M

y wife, Jana, and I are proud owners of two Petits Bas-

sets Griffons Vendeens, David (almost 10 years old)

and Leo (just over 2 years old), who got the opportunity to

spend the 2015-2016 Christmas and New Year’s holidays in

the beautiful,  Spanish Colonial city of San Miguel de Allen-

de, Mexico, a World Heritage site.  We had made several prior

trips to San Miguel de Allende and, with the extended stay

over the holidays, the boys had to come along.

W

e consulted our veterinarian regarding paperwork

that would be required and also the Mexican consul-

ate.  Heath and rabies certificates are required for

each dog to enter Mexico.  Mexican law only permits

bringing one day’s allotment of food for each dog.  In

preparation on previous trips we searched out and

purchased foods that were close to what David and

Leo are eating at home.  We flew down on United Air-

lines and they were very helpful in all aspects of the

journey.  We then had a three hour drive from Mexico

City to San Miguel de Allende. We had a car service

pick us up and made them aware we had dogs so

they sent a large enough vehicle.
