firsttimeinthehistoryofourbreed,aDNAmarkerhasbeen
foundforaninsidiousdisease,primaryopenangleglaucoma,
POAG.Opinionsdon’tcounthere,it’sinthegenes!For
breeders,thisisagodsend.Nomoreguessing.Wehavethe
powertoolneededtowipeoutPOAG.Itwillnothappen
overnight,butitwillhappenasbreederstakeadvantageof
thistoolintheirbreedingprogram.Andtohelpboostthis
power,thePBGVHealth&RescueFoundationisofferinganice
incentivetothosewhosharetheirtestresults.Thinkaboutit:
WehavethemeanstowipeoutPOAG.Theseareamazing
timeswelivein.
The2015PBGVCANationalSpecialtyhascomeandgone;
thatweekwentbysofast.Whatagreatvenuewehad:spacious
ballroomandgroomingarea,restaurant,cantina,lobbylounge,
guestroomsthatopenedtoprivatepatios,fruittreeswithall
theoranges,tangerinesandgrapefruityoucouldhavejustfor
thepicking,andtheweatherwasdelightful—nippytothe
natives(sotheysaid)butglorioustothenortherners.
Congratulationstoeveryoneinvolved,welldoneindeed!
Lookingahead,asweallshouldknowbynow,the2016
nationalwillbeheldinIndianapolis.Whatyoumaynotknow
iswejustsignedthecontractfor2017forareturnvisittothe
SheratonCharlotteAirportHotelinNorthCarolina.Another

willbeenteredintoafinaldrawtobetheGrandPrizePhoto,
