Chairman’sReport:Mr.Kalterreportedthatthe

AKChadanoperatingprofitofalmost$6milin2014and
assetshaveincreaedtoalmost$140mil.Programswhich
contributedtothebottomlineincludeCaninePartners,
GoodDog!Helpline,ReggieBox,CGC/StarPuppyandGlobal
Services.Eventparticipationwasabout3.2milin2014.
Eventsdonotmakemoney.TheAKC’sgoalistobreakeven.
Untilthen,theAKCwillcontinuetoinvestinourevents.
TheAKC’shealthyfinancialpositionhelpstosupportAKC
CanineHealthFoundation,financialaidtoveterinary
students,providemanagementoftheAKCPAC,supports
theAKCsGovernmentRelationsteamandprovidesaPublic
RelationsProgramtoincreaseawarenessofresponsible
breedersandthedesirabilityofpurebreddogs.AKC’sPublic
Outreachhassignificantlyincreasedclipsforatotal
audiencein2014ofalmost26billion.

AKCresearchindicatesthatwhilemostpeoplewith

dogsintheUnitedStateshaverespectfortheAKC,they
don’tseetheAKCasrevelanttothem,andmanydon’t
thinktheyarewelcome.TheAKC’sSocialMediaaudience
was35.6millionpeoplein2014.Twovideoswerereleased
thataddressthepositiveattributesofpurebreddogsand
responsiblebreeders.ChrisWalkerandhisPublicRelations
teamhaveredesignedtheAKC’swebsite.Amongother
things,therewillbeanewlistingthatwillincludeboth
breeders’dogsandrescuedogsfromourparent-club-
approvednetwork,andimprovedbreederprofilesand
custombreederwebsites.

TheAKC’swebsitewillincludeahealthmicrositethat

promotesbestbreedingpracticesandhealthscreening.
BredwithH.E.A.R.T.willsoonbelaunched,whichprovides
thegeneralpublicinformationaboutfindingresponsible
breederswhoarecommittedtocontinuingeducationand
tohealthscreening.Anewchiefveterinaryofficerwillbe
announcedsoonandwillbecomeintegraltothissite.

In2015,theAKCwillexpandtheclubeventsupport

system.TheAKChasanemailmarketingprogramfor
AKCsanctionedmatcheswhichwillinviteAKCregistrants
within100milesoftheeventtoattractnewexhibitorsand,

potentially,clubmenbership.TheAKCis

producingaMarketingtheSporteBookwhich

providesinformationaboutpromotingour

shows,trialsandevents.ThiseBookis
anticipatedinthesecondquarter,2015.

reportedthattheFebruaryMeettheBreedswas

verysuccessful.TheAKCwaspleasedtohave120

electedofficialstoserveashonorarychairpersons.

Thisparticipationwithlawmakersandotherpublic

officialswillfostergoodwillthatwillprotecttherightof
ownersandbreeders,andpromotestheAKCastheepitome
ofresponsbiledogownership.

TheAKChadspaceintheirNorthCarolinafacilitythat

wasnotused.Acontracttosurrenderone-halfofafloorwas
madewhichwillhaveanetsavingsof$1.8miloverthe
nextfiveyears.Duringthistime,46AKCemployeesin
RegistrationandCustomerServiceDepartmentswere
transitionedintooffsiteat-homeworkstations.This
changeoffersanenhancementforpersonnelandhasthe
potentialtoreducefuturecostsofrelocation,recruitment
andtraining.

nologyMr.MichaelBasone.

CFO’sReport:Mr.JoeBaffutoreportedthatthe2014

financialsshowanincreaseinunrestrictednetassetsof$5.7
mil.Entitieswhichcontributedtothisfigureincludeanet
operatingprofitofalmost$6mil,AKCReUnite’snetdeficit
ofabout$300,000(afterReUnitepaidbacktotheAKC$1.4
milforservicesandprogramsupportthroughouttheyear),
theAKCHumaneFundhadaprofitofmorethan$100,000,
andtheAKCPACoperatedevenwithcontributionsof
$33,000in2014.

In2014,theAKCregisteredabout481,000dogsand

210,000litterswithregistrationrevenueof$27mil,whichis
equalto2013.In2014,therewereabout19,000eventswith
almost3.2entriesyieldingmorethan$15.5milinrelated
revenue.Significantrevenuewashadfromotherprograms
suchasReggieBoxsales,theGoodDog!Helplineandthe
CaninePartnersProgram.Royaltiesandsponsorships
droppeddramatically,dueprimarilytotheexpirationofthe
affinitycardprogram.AKC’stotalrevenueof$59.7milin
2014wasslightlybelowthe2013revenueof$59.9.AKC’s
totalexpensesof$53.8milin2014wasslightlygreaterthan
theexpensesin2013.Theadditionalfocusonmarketing
wasresponsibleforthemajorityoftheadditionalexpense.
TheAKC’sinvestmentportfolioincreasedby$1milin2014.

Amendments:Thisamendmentwouldchangethetime

frameofwhenlimitedregistrationmustberemovedto
permitadogtocompeteinbreedcompetition.Currently,
theruleisthatthischangemustbemadebycloseofentries.
Thechangeproposedwouldextendthetimetothedayof
theshow.Theamendmentwasadopted.
