President’sMessage:TheFoundationboardwelcomesthe
Classof2012.AtthenationalspecialtyinMesa,Ariz.,the
annualelectionofofficersanddirectorswasheldwiththe
resultsasabove.Manymembersarereturninginthesame
ordifferentroles.CarolynRandelandRebeccaBelflowerare
comingofftheboard.Theircontributionshavebeengreatly
appreciatedandtheywillbemissed.Joiningtheboardare
somenewmembers.JoAnneHackerhastakenontheposi-
tionoftreasurer.JillOttowillbeinpositionasadirectoras
willSherylBradburyandPeggyEvanich.Overthepastyear,
SherylandPeggyhavesatinontheconferencecallsand
contributedtheirtalentsasvolunteersworkingseveralof
theFoundation’sprojects.ThisyearwealsowelcomePatti
Ritter,whowillworkwiththeboardinavolunteercapacity.
TheFoundationisveryfortunatethatithasmany
returningboardmemberswhohaveastrongdedication
andacontinuingcommitmenttoworkingtosupportthe
MissionoftheFoundation.Historyandlongevityinany
boardprovideacertainstabilityandthatblendedwiththe
freshperspectiveofnewmembersmakesforagoodfit.We
canallcontributeandlearnfromeachother’sexperience.
OneoftheprimaryfunctionsoftheFoundationisto
conductfundraisingtosupporttheHealth(educationand
research)andRescueMissionoftheFoundation.Itisalways
achallengetocomeupwithnovelandcreativewaystoraise
funds.Thisyear,inadditiontoliveauctionitemsatthe
nationalspecialtybanquet,thesilentauctionwascentered
aroundthestatebaskets.Thisindeedwasasighttobehold.
JulieShannondeservesallthethanksandpraisefor
organizingthisevent.PBGVseverywheresendtheirthanks
toJulie,allthestatecoordinatorsandcontributors,notto
mentioneveryonewhobidonthesebeautifulbaskets.
TheDepartmentofTravelandTourismreportsthat
thewinnersofthetravelvacationswereLindleyHenson,
PalmCoast,Floridavacation;StephanieandRobert
HoloubecktheVermontgetaway;andShirleyKnipe,the
Disneyvacation.
Ourchallengeforthecomingyearistoneverlose
sightofourMission,tocontinuetoraisefundstosupport
ourrescueeffortsandhealthbysupportingresearch
andeducation.
