Chairman’sReport.Mr.RonMenakerreportedthat

theCaninePartnersprogramhasgeneratedsignificantAKC
participationwith30K+entries.Lastyear,85percentofthe
eventswhocouldinvitethemtoparticipate,didso.This
yeartheparticipationratehasincreasedto89percent.The
“MyDogCanDoThat”programhad230dogsinRoseCity
KCinPortland,Ore.,and204dogsinMiddlePeninsulaKC
inDoswell,Va.Agilityachievedtheonemillionentrylevel
in2011.Princey,aCaninePartner,isthefirsttobeawarded
MACH1,MACH2andMACH3titles.TheAKC’s1012budget
isprojectedtobe$1.7intheblack.Mr.Menakerthanked
Mr.DavidMerriamandDr.TomDaviesfortheirserviceto
theAKC’sboardofdirectors,recognizedWalterGoodman’s
24yearsofservicetotheboardandthankedAKCstaff
anddelegates.

President’sReport.Mr.DennisSprungoffereda

movingthankyoutoWalterGoodman,TomDaviesand
toRonMenakerfortheirservicetotheAKC.Eachreceived
prolongedapplause.

CFO’sReport.Mr.JimStevensreportedthatthe2011

overviewwasrelativelybetterthan2010.Royalties,pedigree
salesandregistrationsarealldownfrom2010.Entriesareup
2.5percentandeventsareup2.6percent.2011sawanet
lossof$8.6millionfromevents.Theaveragelossperentry
was$2.77.Reductioninoperations,payrollandtravelwas

$3.9mil(3.6percent)andthepersonnelcount

wasreducedfrom343to304.Cashflow

remainspositive.Overthepast10years,

theAKChashadanoperationalsurplusof

$27.6milwiththerecordof$6.6milset

in2005.Alternativerevenuehasbeen
decliningthepastfouryears.

Investmentlosseswere$2.1milor–2.4

percent.TheDOWwas+5percentandthe

S&Pwas+2.5percentwhiletheotherindices

wereinthered.WhiletheAKC’sperformanceis

belowthetoptwoperformers,itwasbetterthan

mostandthelossesfrom2010wererecoupedin2011.

Mr.Stevensreportedonthecontributionstovariousfunds,
includingtheAKC’sPAC.While$5,971wasreceivedfrom
thePACboard,theAKCboardandAKCstaff,$6,662was
receivedfromAKCclubs.Thisamountstoanaverageof
$.05perperson.

Mr.Stevensindicatedheisoptimisticabout2012witha

projectedbudgetintheblackby$1.7million.

waswithdrawnandwillberesubmittedatalaterdate.

two-weekAKCPointingGunDogChampsionships.Hegave
highpraisetothefieldstafffortheirlonghoursofhard
workonbehalfofthisevent.Dr.CharlesGarvinreminded
thedelegatesthatPurinahasbeenamajorcontributorto
theCanineHealthFoundationformorethan$1mil
annually.ThePurinaParentClubProgramprovidesnearly
$250,000annually.Heencouragedallparentclubstosign
up(174participate)andforallofustosignupandturnin
ourweightcircles.Eachweightcirclebringsin$4.50tothe
AKC’sCanineHealthFoundation.
