PBGVCA Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2019 ~ Conference Call
In Attendance:

Susannah Cooper called the meeting to order at 8:37 p.m.
EST and also welcomed Jill Otto on the call.
President’s Report:
Susannah Cooper said she’d received a
request from Beverly Childs indicating that she thought the
club should donate to the AKC Dog Museum. The club could
donate $2500 over a 5 year period to have our name listed on
the wall or any other amount but only $2500 donor’s names
are listed on the wall. It was discussed and decided at this time
we would not donate but maybe in the future.
Vice President’s Report:
Bob Cohen – He is working with
Sue Smyth on a backdrop for Meet the Breeds. He has sent
her several photos. She’ll be set up next to the Basset Hound
booth at Westminster.

Treasurer’s Report:
Gloria Swaine reported that club as-
sets as of December 31, 2018; has a net loss for 2018-19 of
$6,732.41. This loss consists of a net loss of $9,050.01 in
General Activities, offset by a net gain of $491.99 in Show
Events, and a net gain of $1,825.61 in Hunt Activities.
Delegate’s Report:
Helen Ingher reported that she is waiting
on information from AKC and will send later to the Board
List.
Pam Helmer joined the call
2019 National Specialty Report:
Lora Megli reported that
she is continuing to work with AKC. Lora and Pam Helmer
discussed what the menu would be for the Top 20 Dinner.
Choices were Italian, Mexican, or Texas food and they decided
on Texas food (country fried steak, etc.) Lora wanted clarifica-
tion as to what we charged for 4-6 month puppy class and in
2016 and 2018 $20 was charged so that is what the fee will be.
Cheryl Cazier, show secretary is working on the premium list
since it needs to be out by February 1. Lora is also working on
getting raffle donations. Pam Helmer said that the two Top
20 judges would need to be picked up at the airport. Lora said
she was having some judges rent a car and also asking friends
to help with transportation. Veronica Scheer will send Lora a
spreadsheet so she can enter trophy information so it can be
put on the website.
2020 National Specialty Report:
Pam Helmer asked Gloria
Swaine to send Megan Esherick, Show Chair a copy of the
budget as well as the hotel contract. Pam Helmer said that
Megan Esherick indicated that Sam is almost finished with the
logo. Megan thinks she has found a show photographer. She
also needs to get some performance judges. Megan has the
schedule worked out.
2021 National Specialty Report:
Pam Helmer indicated that
we still need a chair and a contract.
Rescue:
Pam Helmer said there is a possibility that she could
get in 6 PBGVs in rescue (an illness issue).
Saber Tails
:
Lora Megli had nothing to report.
Old Business:
New Business:
Susannah Cooper asked if we were all on
board with sending AKC a letter requesting AKC Title Rec-
ognition for PBGVs at Basset Hound Club of America Hunt
Tests. This was discussed on emails. Andy Elledge will send
letter to AKC.
Veronica Scheer asked if it was o.k. to send the OptiGen Re-
port Authorization and all agreed. Susannah Cooper will
send. This was also discussed on emails.
Timing for online voting – Veronica Scheer is working with an
outside person/more like an audit firm to create a system for
electronic voting for 2019-21 club officers online. The cost
will be $80. All full-voting/eligible members will receive a
token which can only be used once for voting. She is working
out the timing according to the Constitution and By-Laws,
payment of dues, and the annual meeting. Voting will open
on February 16, 2019 at 12:01 a.m. and close at midnight
on March 29, 1019. Those members who have not paid their
dues will be considered invalid and not counted. She’ll send
an email prior with a list and resumes of those that are running
for office.

prove the Roscoe, IL Hunt Application and Budget for March
29-31, 2019. Motion passed.
Beverly Childs is stepping down from being the Awards Chair
in 2020. Veronica will send an eblast to the membership ask-
ing if anyone is interested in taking over that position.
Mary Fluke, President of the Carolina Club sent an email in
regards to the Carolina PBGV Club Specialty scheduled for
July 27, 2019 at the Piedmont Kennel Club show in Green-
