40 Saber Tails Summer 2019

Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America

credit and produced many happy family pets. She has

never had a bad day, except maybe when she is being

groomed, and greets you every time like it’s the first time

she has seen you in ages.

CH Daisyhill Shines Like Justice RA NAP OJP CGCA

TKA, aka Josie, is 6 years old, and is Zouk’s daughter;

CH Sonora Isabela Caprichosa BN RE NA OAJ OAP

AJP CGCA TKA, aka Caprice, also 6 years old, is Zouk’s

granddaughter.
Caprice and Josie are three days apart in age and almost

identical in size.  I call them my “almost twins.”  They

have different coloring but big differences in personality.

Caprice is very active, demanding and a barker.  Josie

is a couch potato, very cautious and never barks (yes, a

PBGV who doesn’t bark!).  They get along well and nei-

ther has a mean bone in their body.  Both of them love

their training sessions and learning Agility, Rally, Obedi-

ence and Scent Work.  Training hounds means figuring

out how to convince them it is their idea and keeping

sessions short and with lots of rewards.  PBGVs are very

smart and they learn quickly but they only choose to per-

form on command when it benefits them in some way.

This can be challenging but very exciting when you fi-

nally achieve a goal.

Sonora Ilea Act1 RN CGCA TKN, is 6 years old, Zouk’s

granddaughter and Caprice’s sister. We have been learn-

ing and competing in Agility since 2014.  Leah likes to

do things her way: she will run a course, walk a course,

or zoom a course depending on her mood, maybe even

visit with the judge or jump setters if she has a mind to.

Josie and Caprice have many titles between them, exemplifying
the versatility of the PBGV.

toward a Rally championship with successes in the Rally

ring. Our newest endeavor is Scent Work that she loves

only after bunny hunting. She is working at the excellent

level with legs in several elements. What more could a

PBGV want than to use her nose and get treats? She is

the sweetest PBGV I have had, and so patient with the

hooligan Beagles in the house. Tracking will be our next

challenge and I have no doubt she will also excel at that.

Canadian GCH American GCH Krieckside’s Can You

Hear Me Now CGC, American RN Canadian RN TKP,

is Zouk’s daughter. My mom and I saw Zouk at our first

National in Sacramento, California in 2006, and fell in

love with him as we watched him win the National. We

never imagined we would have the opportunity to breed

to him. Fast forward to 2011, Barbara Oxholm helped us

connect with Sandy to make this a reality.
Pippa is now 7 years old. She came into our life scream-

ing for attention and has been the light of our lives and

a star ever since. Pippa quickly finished her Canadian

Championship winning Group placements and Puppy

Group wins under a breeder judge. Pippa was the #1 Fe-

male and #2 PBGV in Canada in 2014, and #1 female

and #3 PBGV in 2016.  Along the way she became, un-

officially, the first PBGV to finish her Grand Champi-

onship. Pippa finished her American Championship at

the shows prior to the AKC Eukanuba shows in 2015,

and her Grand Championship title after her second litter.

For fun Pippa has enjoyed Rally, completing her Canadi-

an and American titles in three trials. She also completed

four levels of Trick Dog titles with my mom at the 2018

National in Reno.
Pippa has been the proud mother of 16 puppies in two

litters, with American and Canadian Champions to her

The lovely Pippa shown celebrating the holidays as well as her

many winning ways!
