Summer 2019 Saber Tails 33

American bred dog -- #21 was also presented pleasingly

“rustic” and while he was a bit uneasy on the table exam

he relaxed and moved well from the side.
Open dogs -- #25 was 1st and appeared short on leg

standing but upon exam was acceptable.  He had the

smoothest most even movement in this class.  2nd to #23

who was slightly short in neck but had good muscle.
Winners Dog – from the 12-18 class #11.  He was com-

pact, with harsh coat, short hocks, good balance and

lovely side movement.  The head details were correct with

strong occiput and under jaw. The length of neck, promi-

nent prosternum, ribs extending well back into a short,

muscular loin and level topline all combined to give this

dog a super outline.  Also Best of Winners.
Reserve Winners dog to #7 from senior puppy class.  He

returned to the ring with added confidence, carrying

his topline, head and tail correctly, showing the slightly

higher leg length and compact but longer than tall frame

and covering ground easily.
6-9 bitches – 1st to #10 who was in better condition,

moving more freely than #12 who had a lovely shape and

length to ears but had been enjoying the food bowl a bit

too much and had a soft coat on the day.
9-12 bitches – 1st to #16 (also best puppy) who was com-

pact, balanced and in good muscle with good shoulders.

In my opinion, she was over trimmed.  2nd to #18 with a

strong topline on the move but needs slightly more rear an-

gulation for balance.  3rd to #14 who was very high in the

rear with quite straight rear angulation which affected her

topline.  I suspect the latter two girls were in that “funky”

growth stage with unfortunate timing for this show.

12-18 bitch – #20 Nice free movement but had a soft

coat and overly long tail.
Bred By Exhibitor bitches – 1st to #28 (also best BBE)

who had the best outline, strongest side movement in

the class.  2nd #22 who was slightly narrower in front

movement but had a strong topline and loin, standing

and moving.
American Bred bitch – 1st to #30 with pleasing side

movement and a harsh coat
Open Bitch – 1st to #32 with decent side movement and

strong topline but her shoulder could have been better

and her coat harsher.
