Fall 2017  Saber Tails 35

Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America

As we all know, bringing a PBGV into our lives

takes us on new adventures, introduces chal-

lenges and creates a lot of laughter.  When

we brought our 1st PB home, we immediate-

ly fell in love.  We also discovered that PBs are

very social.  They have never met a person,

animal or object they didn’t like or want to

chase and/or eat!!

Our breeder was wonderful and extreme-

ly helpful but lived in another state.  We

thought that it might be nice to connect

with some other PB parents close to home.

It turns out that PB parents are ALSO very

social!!

In the area where we live (Chicago and suburbs) there are not a lot of pee-

bs.  Doing a little research on social media, a group of us connected and be-

came Facebook friends.  We kept in touch pretty frequently.  The one chal-

lenge that we had was getting everyone together with their dogs where

everyone could socialize.

We finally were able to settle on a date that most people had available.  We

found and booked a doggie day care that had a party room to rent in an

area that was pretty centrally located.  On August 19th 2017 we gathered

together for our 1st Peebfest!!  We had fun, food and lots of laughs.

Julie Korenchuck, one of our peeb parents, summed up the day perfectly.

“The party was a huge success. A great pack of PBGVs all getting along and

having fun.  It was interesting to see the various personalities.  We had the table

guardian, the social butterfly, the lover (who had to be put in jail), the prancer,

mom’s girl and all-around sweetheart.  There was also a Scottie friend with us

named Dandie who strutted around in true terrier fashion.  We enjoyed it when the dogs showed up the people while we were

singing “Happy Birthday “to one of the Peeb parents.  They chimed in with a symphony of “Aroos”.

The best part was the shared love of the breed and knowing that if anyone had a dog issue, we knew we could call upon

each other to jump in and help.  It’s the love of our dogs and the friendship that we

have developed, that brings us together for these great times.”

If there are any Peeb owners in the Chicago area who would like to join our Facebook

Group, please contact Kathy Stahl at stahl.kathy9@gmail.com  We’d love to get to know
you.
