What a year! There are a lot of people who will be ready for 2017 to come
to a conclusion! Hurricanes, tornados, fires…natural disasters all around.
It’s amazing to see how close our tight knit PBGV-community can become
when the times get tough. How nice to open up Facebook in September to
see so many people offering to house, feed, help other club members with
PBGVs living in the affected areas. It is refreshing to see that, no matter how
many differences we have, we can overlook those things in the moment of
true need. PBGVs bring out the best in their people!
We have a lot of good information in this edition of Saber Tails. Thanks to
everyone who entered the photo contest. We hope to see more entries this
year and a lot more people voting! Look for an announcement late spring
and start getting your photo submissions ready. No matter where they
end up in the vote, all photos will be featured in the magazine and will be
drawn from to create our calendar. Also…be sure to read the information
on POAG. After two years having the test available, we have learned a lot and
should have been able to put a stop to the spread of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma through selective breeding. Thanks
to all the breeders who have adopted and supported this critical test!
The winter will be a welcome change with cooler temperatures. And those more favorable weather conditions mean a
lot of very fun activities area available for you and your PBGVs. Join other PBGV club members at any of the following
events scheduled. It’s a great time to get involved, and if you haven’t ever tried hunting with your PBGV, you might be
surprised how well they do on instinct!
• Indiana PBGVCA Hunt – Upland, Indiana – 11/10-12/17
• MNJPBGVCA Hunt – Flemington, New Jersey – 11/24-26/17
• CPBGVC Club Hunt – Seneca, South Carolina – 12/1-3/17
• Royal Canin National Championships – Orlando, Florida – 12/12-12/17/17
• (with pre-shows)
• PBGVCA Designated Specialty – Orlando, Florida – 12/16/17
• CPBGVC Club Hunt – Seneca, South Carolina – 1/12-14/17
• PBGVCA National Specialty – Reno, Nevada – 4/24-28/17
The next issue will feature everything you wanted to know about the upcoming PBGVCA National and Western Regional
Specialty in Reno, Nevada. We hope to see you at one of these upcoming events.
