discussdifferenttypesofgenetic
tests,theiravailabilityandproper

NoseWorkisafunsearchandscentingactivityfor
alldogstobuildconfidenceandfocus.Itkeepsdogs
fitandhealthythroughmentalandphysical
exercise.Itstartsbygettingyourdogexcitedabout
usingitsnosetoseekoutarewardhiddenin
oneofseveralboxes.Gradually,targetodorsare
introduced,andcompetitionskillscanbetaught.

TwoagilitytrialswillbeheldonTuesday,April26,at
PawsitivePartnersDogTrainingCenter,about15-20
minutesfromtheWyndham.Thecenterhasa
13,000-sq.-ft.heated/air-conditionedindoorring,
competitionagilityequipment,artificialturfover
3/4-in.rubberstallmatting,andplentyofcrating
room.Volunteersareneededtohelpwiththetrial,

Afghansinthe‘70s,addingDachshundsin1983.She
beganjudgingin1980,andlatermovedfromUKto
Australia.InpartnershipwithRobynWallis,theirGrand
ChampionRokeenaFilledeParisistheonlyPBGVbitch
toachieveSupremetitle.TophillalsocampaignedFille’s
sire,Arthur,toSupremeChampion.Tophilljudges
Group4,gundogsandisstudyingforGroup7.

ClaireSteidel•4-6Month.Steidelhasbeeninvolved
withBassetssince1968andPBGVssince1983.Shehas
chairedPBGVCAJudgesEducationsince1984,was
PBGVCA’sfirstpresidentandregisteredthefirstPBGV
withtheAKC.Herbook,UnderstandingthePetitBasset
GriffonVendeen,wasthefirstbookinanylanguage
devotedtothePBGV.SheisapprovedtojudgeHounds,
