Here we are in 2017 looking forward to a fantastic year ahead.  The first quarter

will be an exciting one for the PBGV Club of America.  There is so much happen-

ing!  Texas has its first official PBGVCA hunt in January.  The Carolina PBGV Club will

host hunts in January in South Carolina and in February in North Carolina.  Then

we come to the much anticipated 2017 National & Regional Specialty being held

in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Something tells me our members in the Carolinas are

serious over-achievers!

We have a fantastic issue for you in this Winter Saber Tails.  I hope you enjoy it.  We

have more great articles planned for the next issue and are starting to get more

contributions from a number of club members.  Please send us your stories to be

included.  We are always on the lookout for your PBGV’s crazy adventures  espe-

cially for “Tails from the Clown Hound Files.”   We need recipes for dog treats and we

need photos for our quarterly collage and to fill in the blank white spaces.  As of

now, you will see a lot of photos of my dogs represented.  Naturally, I’m quite proud of my pups…but mostly I use my

own photos because I don’t have photos from other people.  So please…share your stories and photos with us and

we will make sure they are recorded in print for everyone to enjoy!

You will find A LOT of information in this issue related to the 2017 National Specialty.  I do hope you will consider

joining us in North Carolina!  Read through pages 7-21 herein and I think you will be amazed how many things there

are to do at the specialty, even if you aren’t showing your dog.  In fact, I have gone every year since the 2010 show in

St. Louis, Missouri...but I’ve only shown dogs at three of the shows.  The seminars are wonderful, watching the dogs

compete in conformation, agility and obedience is great fun and it is amazing to see so many PBGVs in one place.  This

year, specialty chairman Beverly Childs has built a number of activities into the week that are specifically designed to

get people involved who are not usually in the show ring.  Plus...it’s wonderful meeting people in person who I nor-

mally only ‘see’ in Facebook groups online.

Finally, please take note of page immediately opposite this one.  WE WANT YOU!  This could easily read WE NEED YOU.

We appreciate the people who have responded to our request for volunteers and we need more.  We currently have a

rescue representative position available and need someone to take over our membership committee.  We’d also like

to create a back up for many of our positions that will require some training.  God forbid something should happen to

one of our club members who wears a lot of hats but we do want to be prepared.  It’s also important that a few people

aren’t doing so many things that they burn out over time.

Thanks for your membership and if you know someone who has PBGVs and isn’t a member...invite them to join.  Now

that we have the Associate Membership...it’s easier than ever.  And the more the merrier!
