30 Saber Tails Winter 2016

Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America

Rescue Representative Needed!!!

The PBGVCA needs a volunteer to serve as the North Central Rescue Representative. Region representatives work with
the assistance of the Rescue Chairperson and two Assistant Chairs to rescue PBGVs in need within their territory.  You
would serve as the primary contact to help with identification in person or through communication with the shelter
(many shelters will label a rescue dog as a PBGV that clearly does not exhibit the physical traits of a PBGV), arranging
for acquisition, transportation, fostering, and placing the PBGV in a new forever home. You aren’t expected to be the
transporter, foster family, etc...just help make arrangements and coordinate other volunteers’ efforts.  By comparison to
other more popular breeds, the PBGVCA does not deal with very many rescues in a year.  Many times our rescues are re-
lated to the passing of a club member or an individual whose life circumstances no longer allow them to care for their
dog(s).  If you are interested in serving on the rescue committee as a representative or just learning more about the po-
sition, please email Rescue Chair Pam Helmer (celestialpetits@atlanticbb.net).  **The North Central Region includes
the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Volunteers Needed!!!

The PBGVCA is a fairly large club with a number of committees that run our events, charity endeavors, activities and ad-
ministration.  Each of these committees that keeps our club running is staffed solely by volunteers.  We are all volunteers
that love our PBGVs, enjoy meeting people who love their PBGVs and get some satisfaction from being involved in  mak-
ing this club successful and interesting to the members.  There are a lot of opportunities to get involved and we are constantly
seeking individuals who might be interested in participating on a committee or assisting with the administration.  We have
committees that conduct the annual audit, stuff Ballot envelopes and prepare mailings, read Saber Tails looking for typos,
stand like stanchions at Obedience trials, judge hunt trials, enter information into the pedigree database, conduct rescue ac-
tivities, etc, etc.  The list is endless.  If you have a few hours a month to spare, we will happily find a committee for you to work
with.  We are always looking for more people to get involved!  It’s a great way to meet people and help our hairy little hounds.

Absolutely NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!!  Contact Any Officer or Board Member to Volunteer.
