Comprehensive Breed Health Survey Information
About this Survey
The PBGV is a rugged, happy hound who fits well into a variety of human lifestyles. Today’s PBGV can be a beautiful show dog, a hard working agility, obedience or hunting dog and a devoted housedog.
Despite their general good health, we need to be sure we guard the future of our breed too. To do this we developed our PBGV-Comprehensive Breed Health Survey that provides us with a picture of the overall well being of PBGVs around the world.
The Survey allows you to retrieve and update your PBGVs' health records whenever something changes, or you’ve completed a health, screening test. You enter your PBGV's individual information once and then you can add new information without redoing the initial part. All of your dogs are linked to you through your password protected user ID. When you enter your PBGV's health information, you help us learn what problems affect our breed most often and if there are regions or countries where certain conditions are more common.
The data is entirely confidential. No one sees your dogs’ information except you and our independent data management firm. All identifying information is taken out of summary reports before it is given to our project veterinarian advisor, Dr James Wright from Auburn University. Dr. Wright will receive the health information as a group of numbers that he then will analyze in an annual summary report.
All PBGV owners are encouraged to participate. You do not have to be a member of the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Club of America to participate. Every PBGV is important, no matter if your dog is a family companion, or a show or breeding dog. To enter one dog for the first time takes about 20 minutes. If your PBGV was alive on, or born after January 1 2001, take a few minutes and enter their information. http://www.lkhopkins.com/pbgv
