The PBGV Health and Rescue Foundation is working in collaboration with the University of California-Davis in the collection of DNA for UC Davis' research effort on Canine Skeletal Dysplasia, also known as Canine Dwarfism. There has been a recently reported case of dwarfism in a litter of PBGV puppies. The researchers would like DNA from all PBGVs, non-affected and affected individuals. The DNA collection is done using cheek swabs that can be done by the owner at home. To request cheek swabs, please contact Helen Ingher at pbgv@charlen.com and she will mail the swabs. Instructions for collection can be downloaded through above link. All research and results are kept anonymous through the University of California-Davis
